Linda Robotson
An android modelled in Autodesk Maya inspired the trends and fads of the 1950s as well as Rosie the robot from The Jetsons.
Alongside modelling it, I also animated it for my Animation ll class where my team member and I had to devise a plot involving our robots and rig and animate those robots accordingly as well as model any important environment. Our plot was about a daughter trying to learn a choreographed dance, but the music is way too loud, so her mother goes to deal with her. I tried to mash together different concepts and ideas for the design of my android. The overall body was somewhat based on Hajime Sorayama, a Japanese artist that makes pin-up android illustrations, but as if it was in a '60s cartoon, like The Jetsons, which leads to the next inspiration. I used Rosie the robot maid from The Jetsons as basis for my robot's face with dials for eyes and antennae as ears. Finally, the rest of the designs were based on some of the popular trends of the '50s, like polka dot patterns were quite popular and the hairstyle is loosely based on the poodle cut and pompadour styles.
