A monochromatic, acrylic-painted self-portrait.

 

This was an assignment for my Design ll for Media class where we had to showcase our ability to use monochromatic colors by painting a self-portrait. After my professor took a photo of me, I edited it in Photoshop to posterize it down to 10 tones. I drew the posterized version on a separate paper and then painted over it with various tones of purple, since it's my favorite color. The painting took a couple of days since I was working on it after classes, usually in the middle of the night. I finished it off with a bright, contrasting orange gradient as the background.
